We often associate self-care more with weekends, but it should be integrated into our daily routines. If you're seeking simple ways to maintain your mental and physical well-being, you might already have everything you need right at home. Some individuals believe they must venture outside and explore to find peace and happiness. However, this notion isn't necessarily true. This summer, many parts of the world are experiencing record breaking heat and oppressive humidity. This makes it extremely uncomfortable to spend extended periods outdoors. Drawing inspiration from these hot and humid days, here are some indoor self-care activities to consider:

Indoor Self-Care Activities that Promote Relaxation & Enjoyment
Engage in reading: A good book can transport your thoughts to another world. When you find a book that captivates you from the very first page, you know it's a special read. Allow yourself to immerse in the words and discover new realms you never knew existed.
Play games: Card and board games are excellent for family time or gatherings with friends. Challenging yourself or someone else in your household to a game of War or Connect Four can be fun. It's important to enjoy the game without making it overly competitive. Personally, I enjoy video games, as they come in various genres and may feel tailor made for you.
Explore a fun hobby: Discovering a new hobby can stimulate your mind, help you relax, and demonstrate your self-worth to the world and yourself. Choose a hobby that appeals to you and dive into it. The time you spend on this hobby is solely for you! Engaging in a creative hobby can boost your self-esteem when you admire the items you create. You can also experience joy when using these items or giving them away as gifts.
Indulge in your favorite show: Sometimes, we all need to switch off our minds and tune in to the TV. Settle in for a day of binge-watching TV series, movies, or even learning the latest dance moves. The easiest way to practice self-care is by doing things you love. With just a little effort, you can see a positive impact on your day by spending quality time at home.
Bake delicious treats: If you consider yourself a foodie, why not dedicate a day to baking your favorite treats? The best part is that you get to enjoy the food you prepare! Remember to stay hydrated by drinking water and incorporate other healthy options into your baking. Maintaining a well-balanced diet is crucial for both your mental and physical health.
Given the many uncertainties in the world, it's an opportune time to take control of the things you can influence. Discovering indoor activities that bring you joy and happiness is easily achievable.

I wrote a post about play and its benefits myself for day 7. Play is great for staving off cognitive decline. I don’t encourage too much TV – my husband does enough of that 😉
